The machining center is a highly mechatronic product. After the workpiece is clamped, the CNC system can control the machine tool to automatically select and replace tools according to different processes, automatically set the tool, automatically change the spindle speed, feed, etc., and can continuously complete drilling, boring, Milling, reaming, tapping and other processes. As a result, the workpiece clamping time, measurement and machine tool adjustment and other auxiliary process time are greatly reduced, and the processing shape is more complex, the precision requirement is higher, and the variety is frequently replaced, it has a good economic effect.
The machining center can mainly process workpieces with complex shapes such as box workpieces, complex curved workpieces, special-shaped workpieces, disc workpieces, sleeve workpieces, and plate workpieces,etc. 
According to the different uses of the machining center, it can be divided into three categories
Gantry Machining Center: It mainly processes various medium and large parts such as mining machinery, automobiles, aerospace, printing, packaging, textile sources, military industry, and molds.
Vertical machining center: It mainly processes plates, discs, and shell parts. It is suitable for steel parts, large castings and other parts with high precision, many processes and complex shapes.
Horizontal machining center: the main processing machinery, automobiles, ships, textile machinery, printing machinery, agricultural machinery, aerospace, metallurgy, machine tool manufacturing and other industries key equipment.
